With the holiday season shortly underway, we continue to look forward to helping both you and your fellow Great Plains users get the most from your Microsoft Dynamics GP business software system.
We have recently identified a number of individuals at our customers who were not receiving our monthly newsletters for Dynamics GP users. So if you are one of these individuals who are now receiving our Microsoft Dynamics GP newsletter for the first time – WELCOME! If you have a fellow team member who does not receive our newsletter, please tell us at firstname.lastname@example.org. The intention of these mailings is to provide an opportunity for our Dynamics GP customers to learn how to save time and utilize features to streamline their use of your Dynamics GP business software system, which is still considered one of the most comprehensive and feature-rich ERP systems on the market today.
Microsoft is continually providing product updates as well as upgrade options for Dynamics GP users along with all their other products. Our article about a Roadmap to the Cloud is an example of this information.
Read on below for information and helpful Dynamics GP features to aid in your everyday tasks!
Did You Know that You already have a Roadmap to the Cloud for your Microsoft Dynamics GP System?
As a leader in your organization, keeping your costs down and your revenue up is a priority to remain profitable. Using software disconnected from the tools you use every day can affect productivity.
The latest version of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central enables your team to:
Work from anywhere, anytime, using any device
Seamlessly integrate to Office 365. View vendor data from emails.
Save significantly on infrastructure to run your business securely in the Microsoft Cloud
Never worry about upgrades again – it's automatic!
Facing fierce competition from the big-budget giants in your industry requires vision and action. Micro Force is ready to help. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is Microsoft's newest and most popular Dynamics 365 offering and is an excellent option for GP clients to modernize and compete better in the market.
As we announced a year ago, Microsoft offered all Dynamics GP customers an option to acquire free software when they renewed their Microsoft annual maintenance plan. We are glad to share that we enrolled your company in the program to accept this offer. So you are entitled to using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central cloud-based software for no additional licensing costs.
The good news is that you can plan to run your ERP in the Cloud with Micro Force's help. Our years of experience and knowledge of GP and Business Central makes the transition easy and painless for our customers.
To provide you with a roadmap to move to the cloud, we have created short videos that compare how transactions that you process today in Dynamics GP could be done using Dynamics 365 Business Central.
We are also offering our Dynamics GP customers an opportunity for an assessment and pilot engagements to help you and your team learn and then decide when and how you would like to plan for this transition to the cloud. Please feel free to reach out to your account rep or email@example.com to schedule your free assessment to the cloud session.
KPIs for your Dynamics GP system? Dynamics GP does have some KPIs (key performance indicator reports) that are available “out of the box.” But many clients have shared that they are wanting. We have been able to use the Microsoft Power BI cloud-based reporting system to create reports like the following that are automatically emailed daily to management at this firm.
Microsoft Power BI licensing is available for as low as $5 per user per month. This offers you a very affordable reporting solution that our team would be glad to assist you with to meet all your management reporting needs as well as save your staff time by automating this process.

Year end updates forthcoming Dynamics GP year end updates are scheduled to be released November 19th.
Changes will be required if you plan to process 1099’s, specifically:
1. Payables 1099-NEC (3 part form), 1099-MISC, 1099-DIV form changes
2. Payables 1096 form changes
There is also an update to the Fixed Assets module due to a luxury auto depreciation change.
Information about this topic can also be found at the Microsoft Dynamics GP Support and Services Blog for posts and videos created by the Dynamics GP Support Teams. This is a quick way to find answers to commonly asked questions, new issues, release dates, etc.
Our December newsletter will provide information about our free year end webinars. You are also welcome to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule your year-end service.
GP Tip of the month
Interesting question from a client. “Is there a way to lock the AP code on the AP payables transaction entry screen, just to avoid someone changing the code or amount by accident. It should always equal the voucher/invoice total. Same question on the A/R side about locking the AR code.” The answer is yes, see below.
