SmartList Favorite Password Protection in GP 2018
Is it just me or are you sick and tired of people deleting or modifying your SmartList? Well no more worries! In GP 2018 there is a fantastic feature where you can have a unique password per SmartList to prevent any modifications.
When in the Add or Remove Favorites window you will now notice there is a password section.
To open the Add or Remove Favorites window: on the Microsoft Dynamics GP menu, select SmartList, and click Favorites.
Once you have entered a Password to a SmartList, when making any modifications to it, Microsoft Dynamics GP will prompt you to enter the SmartList Favorite password.
Once you have entered a Password to a SmartList, if you need to change or remove the SmartList, Microsoft Dynamics GP will prompt you to enter the SmartList Favorite password.
Please note that if the SmartList Favorite password is lost, there is not a way within the Microsoft Dynamics GP application to reset the password.
Have You Scheduled Your Annual Healthcheck for Your Dynamics GP System Yet for 2020?
This is the time of year that businesses begin to budget for projects that can improve operations for 2021. So for those of you who took advantage of this free service in the past, you know that our GP Healthcheck will help you in this effort. So please reach out to schedule your free session at a time that best works for you, before it’s taken by another client.
But for those of you who have never take advantage of this offer, it would help you and your team to address the following types of questions.
Can we perform our daily tasks more efficiently?
Are there new features in Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains that can help us streamline operations?
Are the processes that are currently transacted in other programs or Excel now be available in Great Plains?
Can certain tasks be automated that currently take a lot of time to complete?
Do I need help with our roadmap for our digital transformation plan?
These are some of questions that we have been able to assist other Dynamics GP users to address. We have also found that many users are not aware of the new licensing that they are entitled to for no additional licensing costs?
If any of these topics resonate with you, our GP Healthcheck is a valuable service that you need to schedule sooner than later. This is a free service that Jim provides for any of our clients who have a current Microsoft annual service plan. Cloud: There's No Better Time to Modernize Than Now Each month, we will share an article from one of our technology partners that we feel would be of value to our clients. This month, Jon Berlin (JBerlin@total.us.com) from Total Technology Solutions in Melville is sharing his thoughts about modernizing in the cloud.
We are now all aware that the unthinkable can become reality. While many businesses are returning to the office or at least preparing to, imagine if a second wave of COVID-19 reignites another “shelter-in-place” order. Most businesses are now set up for remote work but is your business able to handle disasters (i.e., a power outage) that could potentially shut down access to on-premise servers at the office? How would you be able to quickly get business operations up and running again? Is your business considered Essential? Would an engineer even be allowed to enter the physical office building to help rectify the issue?
Not moving to Cloud hosting could result in downtime and loss of productivity. Because of what we learned from the pandemic, Total Technology Solutions strongly recommends moving to the Cloud at this time. The Cloud provides access to data, business applications, email from anywhere, at any time. Additionally, Cloud hosting providers are more equipped and experienced in dealing with cyber attacks. They can protect their servers from DDoS, hacking, and other threats better than organizations that operate with on-premise servers. The powerful benefits of the Cloud are unparalleled. The Cloud is not new but maybe now after gaining some perspective to expect the unexpected, the best time for modernization is NOW.
