ALERT - Errors with running Check Links on Analytical Accounting In GP 10.0

A 'Violation of Primary Key Constraint' error will occur when you run Check Links on Analytical Accounting in Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0.

This issue will occur when you have closed a year within Dynamics GP 10.0 at any point after the installation of Service Pack 2 for Dynamics GP 10.0. When you close a year at any point after the installation of Service Pack 2 for Dynamics GP 10.0, the BBF journal entry that gets created in the GL20000 table for General Ledger data will also get created in the AAG30000 series of tables for Analytical Accounting data.

The SEQNUMBR value in the AAG30001 table will have a value of ‘0’ for all distribution accounts assigned to this BBF journal entry. Because this SEQNUMBR is assigned a ‘0’ for all distribution accounts assigned to this BBF journal entry, this causes Check Links on Analytical Accounting data to fail which leaves Analytical Accounting data in the following condition if a backup is not restored:

  • The aaGLDistID column in the AAG30001 and AAG30002 table will be negative.

  • The AAG30003 table will be empty.

After assessing the issue, our Development team has identified that the stored procedures used by Analytical Accounting Check Links is not handling the BBF SEQNUMBR correctly.

This issue is tentatively scheduled to be released with Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 Service Pack 4. Until Service Pack 4 for Dynamics GP 10.0 is released, you should not run Check Links on Analytical Accounting data.
